Brass Family Instruments
Brass family instruments are an excellent source of beautiful sound that are also fun to play as a musician on their own or as part of a band. They are used in many different genres of music including classical music most notably, but also the pop music of many different countries. Jumping into this family is a great way to expand your musical appreciation and if you decide to pick up your own instrument you’ll enjoy years of exciting play with a huge spectrum of possible sounds.
The most distinguishing feature of this family is the shiny metal that gives the family its name. Not only is this good looking, but it also provides the material that generates the warm sound. Moreover, the material is easily formed to create the elaborate tubing that is featured in some of the family members such as the French horn. This material is also very light, which makes even bulky instruments like tuba easy to hold and play.
Another aspect of this family is the mouthpiece, which for each instrument is different giving each one a unique sound. This requires the player to blow into the instrument to constantly produce sound. This can take a bit of getting used to; however, once breath control is obtained, this can be a fun and relieving way to make music. For each instrument are different styles of composition. Some are very quick, others slow and rhythmic. Whichever you prefer, you can enjoy a huge spectrum of sound from all over the world.
